How many CFLs do I need for 2 plants?
So the answer is that for 2-3 plants, and each plant contains 1 square foot, you should need not less than 150 wattages. In terms of lumens, it’s always great if you can have as much as possible as long as your space can handle the heats, up to around 10000 Lux. That is the case of CFLs.
Will any CFL work as a grow light?
Any CFL will work for growing marijuana. Again, it’s much more important to get a high wattage than the right color spectrum. Wattage = light = yields.
How many watts does a CFL plant need?
When using CFL bulbs to grow a plant with a high light requirement (like cannabis), you want a minimum of 60 watts per square foot. Ideally, you want 100 watts per square foot. And it doesn’t hurt to go higher (though there’s not much point going over 150w). You really can’t give your plants too much CFL light.
How far away should CFLs be from plant?
Try to keep your lights anywhere from 4-6 inches away from the surface of your plants.
Are CFL bulbs better than LED?
The LED bulbs last longer and therefore will save you time and money in the long run. CFL’s use 25-35% less energy than traditional light bulbs, or incandescent bulbs, use. LED’s, on the other hand, use 75% less of the energy than incandescent bulbs use. This means that LED bulbs are incredibly energy efficient.
Are led better than CFL for growing?
CFL systems are great for small spaces, small budgets, or for starting your plants. LED systems give better results than CFL but less results than HID; they produce much less heat, but come at a higher price tag. You can see all of our hydroponic grow light options here!
How many lumens does a CFL plant need?
You may also want to look at “lumens” to understand light output. This is another way to measure light output and is often listed on the package of your CFLs. Each plant should be covered by around 10,000 lumens per plant or even more.
Can you grow with LED and CFL together?
As far as I know, using LED and CFL together is recommended, as long as you keep the temperatures in check so your plants won’t get burned.
Can smart bulbs be used as grow lights?
Since smart bulbs can emit red light, can you use them for your plants? A lot of ‘off the shelf’ smart bulbs are not ideal for plant growth, but some smart bulbs – and other types of LED bulbs – can be used successfully for this purpose. Philips actually runs an indoor plant farm in the Netherlands, using LED bulbs.
Can you flower with CFL?
Light is what gives your plant energy, and the more energy it gets, the bigger buds it will grow. It’s optimal to use ‘daylight’ (6500k) colored bulbs for the vegetative stage and ‘soft white’ (2500k) colored bulbs for flowering, but you can use any color CFL during either stage and your plant will grow well.
Can you flower with 6500k?
Well-Known Member. Magik, everyone is right mixed spectrum is better, but to answer you question, yes you can use 6500k to flower, its not the spectrum that causes flowering, it’s hours of light. Red is better for flowering but not necessary.
Is 6500k good for plants?
Foliage growth is generally best around 6500K, though many plants need a period of warmer light, around 3000K, in order to produce flowers, and thus fruit. In other words, if your goal is to simply produce seedlings, leafy green vegetables, or root crops, you only need higher spectrum bulbs.
How many plants can go under 600W light?
Sixteen plants that are grown under a 600-watt HPS lamp could produce about 37.5 grams or 1.3 oz of marijuana per plant. Under perfect, outdoor conditions, you can expect yields to extend to 500 grams or 17.5 oz per plant.
Will 5000K LED grow plants?
The reason for this, is that at the “warm white” color temperature, the “ratio” of wavelengths is ideal for plants. Go higher than 5000K, and so much red light is left out from the spectrum your plants will grow slowly and without much vigor.
How many square feet does a 600 watt HPS light cover?
600 Watt HPS grow lights are the most efficient HPS grow lamp. 600W HPS grow lights produce more light output per Watt used than other wattages and cover around 36 square feet.
